    Abstract

    The article focuses on the opportunities and challenges for the use ofICT and innovative teaching methods in Science, Technology, Engineer-ing and Mathematics (STEM) education with regard to teachers’ Tech-nological Pedagogical Content Knowledge (TPACK). Thereby, teach-ers’ self-efficacy, gender, teaching experience, teachers’ beliefs have beenstudied by the use of the TPACK framework in STEM classrooms. Theneed for additional support of STEM teachers been recognised, e.g. thetraining to develop STEM teachers’ TPACK for the implementation ofICT in their specific subject teaching; the importance of animating ofSTEM teachers’ for their continuous participation in in-service train-ing; and the examination of the role of STEM teachers’ TPACK in thedeveloping of students’ 21st century skills.
