Abstract
Public welfare in Yugoslavia started to decay after Josip Broz Tito's death in May 1980. New conditions influenced posters and that was one of the causes for changes that followed. A theory was inspired by Novi kolektivizem (poster affair), covers of Mladina magazine, designed by Slovenian graphic designers, who had an important role in that time. Their critical view influenced public opinion in the eighties and nineties of the last century. I chose posters of different important authors of that time, who described different topics and started new approaches to poster art work; a retroprinciple, minimalism, a typographic approach, a collage, a colour contrast, a resemantization of symbols,… The practical part of the paper presents the transformation of engaged messages from the past to present. They represent big society problems such as tolerance, alcoholism, borders, relationships, finding options and some others. I have used the combination of drawring and collage for better communication with a viewer.
