    Abstract

This thesis talks about the experience of infertility. In society, fertility is still considered as a highly regarded value which is why when an individual or couple discover that they are not able to conceive a child it is a very traumatic moment for them. Curing infertility is very much a long-term process in which they are exposed to a great deal of physical and emotional strain as well as sexual intimacy. For partners, a period of infertility is a deeply emotional and stressful time. They experience various social pressures and expectations as well as a certain amount of stigmatisation. Infertility has a bearing on an individual in their personal relationships and careerlife. I studied the theoretical findings in the empirical work by using a qualitive method of research. The analysis of the results showed, that feelings of disappointment, anger, pain, anguish, guilt, sadness and despair usually follow the news of infertility. Infertility also affects their life, career and relationships. Their supportive environment consists of their partner, parents and a small circle of friends. They experience the sense that society regards infertiliy as a taboo subject and is stigmatised.
