    Thesis proposal provides a teaching lesson plan which promotes interest activities-plastic modeling. As a means for carrying out the lesson plan we chose a design and technology activity day based on project based learning with a combination of the inquiry based learning. Firstly, we present models, where general characteristics and their division are described. Plastic modeling situation in Slovenia, our educational system and around the world is described. Also competencies developed in this kind of interest activities are presented. This is followed by interest activities introduction andteaching strategy overview. Further on we encompass possibilities for interest activities promoting. It has been shown that the design and technology activity day is a suitable choice for promoting the interest activities since the teacher has more time available for a quality promotion. Lesson plan proposal for Ljubljana's "Jože Pučnik" airport diorama of justified and explained. Diorama choice is confirmed by criteries, which are important already in the planning phase of promoting the interest activities.
