    Abstract

The main theme of the degree paper is preventive discipline, which is essential for the pedagogic work of a teacher. Especially set out is the question of the connection between single aspects of preventive discipline and social games. The idea of the connection between these fields is derived from the preventive concept Oratorij, where Giovanni don Bosco stressed games as the key part of preventive work. Recently professional writings have been frequently setting out social games as important for development of communicative and social skills of the individuals. Experts believe that social games and experiential learning are an important contribution to better interpersonal relations, classroom atmosphere, cooperation, motivation to study, rules observation, leading ability, etc. All these fields of social and personal development of individuals are connected with the key aspects of preventive discipline, which are interpersonal relations, lessons and the management of a class group. Preventive discipline includes series of preventive techniques, including social games which encourage a child to manage and control himself as well as reduce his bad manners. The empirical part of the degree paper shows the results of the research into the influence of social games on preventive discipline. 70 primary teachers filled in a questionnaire. The analyses showed that social games are being practiced relatively often. There are slight differences amoung younger and elderly teachers. It turned out that valuation of fulfilling the goals of social games itself doesn`t affect the choice of a social game. Moreover, the choice corresponds to the class the teacher is teaching in. Primary teachers in the first three classes are keener to do especially the games of introducing and getting acquainted. They are also more convinced of the positive effect social games have on some aspects of educational process than the teachers in the fourth and fifth class. From the aspect of frequency it proved that teachers who frequently practice social games appraised them as a help with other aspects of educational process. Teachers believe that the performance of social games itself brings more advantages than disadvantages. The largest obstacle is time shortage. Relatively common teacher opinion is also that social games improve class discipline, mainly by improving the relations in the class community. The analyses of the results shows many positive influences social games have on different aspects of educational process, which include all three fields of preventive discipline.
