    Abstract

Conflicts are a significant part of every relationship and our life in general. In the theoretical part of the thesis I present different definitions of a relationship between two partners, which is a primary need and a personal value in every person's life. Conflicts, which are a consequence of misunderstanding, disagreeing, holding different views, opinions or nonconstructive communication between two partners, and different ways of dealing with such conflicts are also discussed in the thesis. Conflicts can be resolved in a positive manner or they can stay unresolved. Either way, the outcome has an impact on both partners and their further relationship. In the research part of the thesis the qualitative approach was used. I interviewed two married couples by using semi-structured interviews. By analysing the interviews I found that the interviewees predominantly dealt with small-scale problems that are mostly solved by conversation, some also with retreat. The interviewees see conflicts in their relationships as positive and in solving them they see an opportunity for their relationship to grow. They do not object seeking professional help if necessary – especially the women, who would probably resort to it in a situation where they would not be able to solve the conflict.
