    Povzetek

    Conventional prejudices regarding the inferiority of childrenʼs and adolescent literature in comparison with adult literature have inhibited their literary, theoretical and methodological study. This has affected its – most frequently marginal – position within the framework of the national literary corpus and, thereby, in literary-historical syntheses (Ujević, Ježić, Barac, Šicel, Frangeš, Jelčić, Prosperov Novak). Recently, researchers of childrenʼs literature have successfully been introducing the study of this phenomenon into the discourse of literary scholarship. In that sense, the aim of this paper is to explore the ways in which literary studies shed light not only upon Ivana Brlić-Mažuranićʼs works in historical surveys of Croatian literature, but also upon childrenʼs literature in general, bearing in mind the broader cultural-historical context of the development of the relationship between childrenʼs and adult literature within the national corpus.
