Abstract
The main focus of this diploma thesis is women’s personal experience in connection to menstruality. Menarche, menstrual cycle and menopause are topics which are in our culture in particular addressed in terms of reproductive function and regulation of body fluids. This paper offers insights into experience on a personal level. The theoretical part looks at the topic through different representations of menstrual cycle, mainly through time-component and cultural component. Discussion is also dedicated to men and their relationship to the topic, to medicalization of reproductive processes and it shades light on various aspects of premenstrual period. It offers body literacy as one of possible copping strategies in connection to menstruality. The research part is based on perosnal narratives of four women. It presents their intimate experience through their own life context, addresses difficulties and dilemmas they are facing and seeks solutions they implemented into their daily lives.
