Abstract
The most representative author of young people’s literature since 1970 is Svetlana Makarovič, who in her short contemporary fairy tales, in relation to the body, employs personification (Sapramiška), anthropomorphism (Pek Mišma) and zoomorphism (Gospa Jazbečka). She makes use of different approaches, such as the imagined body (Kosovirja, Ščeper, Mba), the body which resists conformity of appearance (Pasji in mačji) or is simply different (Veveriček posebne sorte), and finally pluralism and tolerance of different identities (Ščeper and Mba). The author communicates directly via images of the body and its fluids, especially tears (heavy, bitter, burning; cat’s, mouse’s, rabbit’s). These function as a magic substance in combination with moonlight (Lisjaček v Luninem gozdu) and thus the theme of emotional sensibility is addressed. Her characters express negative feelings (Jedrt) and have problems expressing positive feelings (Ščeper and Mba), which is shown in a sensitive way by the author.
