Human trafficking is becoming a problem of an ever greater magnitude. In the theoretical part, I firstly defined the concept of human trafficking, the victim and the perpetrator. The media mostly give a stereotypical perception of the victims of human trafficking (according to their reports the victims are women and children who become victims of sexual exploitation). However, the victims are not only women and children but also men who are mostly exploited for work. The most common manifestations of human trafficking are human trafficking with the intent of sexual exploitation, human trafficking with the intent of workforce exploitation and child trafficking. In connection to Slovenia and its integration into the process of human trafficking, I posed a question regarding its position – is Slovenia a country of origin, transit or final destination. There are some organisations in Slovenia that operate in the field of preventing, raising awareness and helping the victims of human trafficking. Next, I focused on one of the groups most vulnerable to human trafficking – the young. I touched upon the problem of social vulnerability of the young in regard to the family, peers and friends, unemployment, deviant behaviour and psychosocial problems. In the research part of the thesis I focused on the comparison between the students of 2-year and 4-year educational programs and their vulnerability to human trafficking. According to the information obtained through surveys, the students of 2-year educational programs are more socially vulnerable than their peers in the 4-year programs; nevertheless, the former do not expose themselves to situations that would put them in greater risk of human trafficking.
