The purpose of this work was to evaluate the presence of pigment clusters in different mature ovarian of white subspecies of the cave salamander (Proteus anguinus anguinus). Histological slices of ovarian of five females from the wild, and six females which starved for a shorter (N=3) and a longer period (N=3) were examined with the stereomicroscope. The average of pigment clusters in histological slice was calculated in order to compare the results between specimens. We found out that the pigment clusters are present in the ovaries, which contain atresia at the same time and that more pigment clusters are in ovaries of females that are starved for a longer period of time.
