    The diploma is focused on social acceptance of pupils in primary school. I was interested in two aspects: the teachers’ opinions on interpersonal relations and how pupils choose their classmates for school activities and for socialising in their free time. In theoretical part I focused on social acceptance, social interaction and interpersonal relations. I also included social development of children and adolescents. I described their everyday life and the groups, in which they feel most connected to and the one in which they spend most of their free time. The final part of my theoretical research describes the ways how to help socially unaccepted children and how to improve interpersonal relations in a classroom. In empirical part I present exploratory results in two parts: the first part includes the analysis of teachers’ answers (N = 47), and the second part analyses answers of pupils of fourth and fifth class (N = 95) within the framework of the research issues. The results has shown that the majority of teh teachers encourage social development of pupils and are awere of their responsibility towards forming and supporting interpersonal relations in the classroom. The majority of children in both forms is accepted; pupils select their classmates partialy with teh regars to the contexst (school activities, company). Special needs pupils and gifted ones mostly have equal and appropriate sociometric status in their class.
