Abstract
Project work emphasizes children's activity and is increasingly establishing itself in kindergartens. Multiple studies have shown that such approaches yield greater number of positive effects compared to traditional transfer of knowledge. The research approach focuses on development of the children's competences and construction of knowledge. The thesis is based on the project How does the baby grow, which was executed using learning through inquiry. Such method allows for higher degree of children's participation, which in turn helps them to independently solve problems, develop their personality, self-image, and other potentials. Theoretical part outlines the concepts of active learning, project work and learning through inquiry. Empirical part describes and evaluates the How does the baby grow project, which is based on learning through inquiry.
