The adventure playground is a place for children and young people where they are the ones making decisions about their play. It is a safe place for the physical, social and cultural development of children and young people. The adventure playground evolves with the active participation of its users, who are the ones co-creating it. It offers a possibility of quality leisure time in today's risk society, and it is a place where children and young people can learn their abilities to adjust to different social situations. The adventure playground enables its users to express, and realize, their ideas, empowering them as important and worthy individuals of their local community. As part of my research I explored the needs of children and youth in Medvode towards their leisure time and if they have the need of an adventure playground. I also researched the points of view of parents and the local community on this matter, as their support is crucial for a good functioning of the adventure playground. The results of my research show that children, young people and their parents have a strong desire for quality leisure-time activities in the Municipality of Medvode. Also, the local community is trying to connect the community, particularly the different generations. I see the opening of an adventure playground in the Municipality as a possible solution to these needs and desires.
