    Abstract

    The diploma thesis aimed at establishing whether there were differences in motor efficiency between pre-school children attending climbing courses and pre-school children not attending climbing courses. Moreover, it was analysed whether there were differences in the motor efficiency between the sexes. The practical part of the thesis was based on a MOT 4-6 test, which included 18 movement exercises. Each exercise was assessed by a three-step scale (0, 1 or 2 points), whereby the sum of all points indicated the movement efficiency of each child. Included in the sample were 60 children, of which half were attending climbing courses. Data were collected between January 2014 and March 2014. The resulting data were analysed with the SPSS statistical programme. Descriptive statistics was used for basic statistical parameters while the links between the two groups of variables were examined using a t-test for independent samples. The statistical significance was examined at the level of a five percent risk (p ≤ 0,05). The analysis of the results showed higher motor efficiency in children attending climbing courses compared to those not attending such courses, which demonstrated a positive impact of sport climbing on pre-school children. The differences between the boys and girls, however, did not prove statistically significant.
