    Abstract

Cultural heritage of Ribnica is very rich, various and diverse. It is the result of activity and creativity of numerous Ribnica citizens from the past. Ribnica is important from the historical, artistic and ethnological point of view, since it is characterised by many memories, events, places, architectural buildings and also wooden products and pottery. Janko Trošt is one of the big names in Ribnica's cultural heritage, who, with his creativity and cultural activity, left some indelible footprints in the Ribnica valley. He worked here between 1920 and 1946 and again later between 1957 and 1975. He took part in educational system, cultural heritage, artistic creativity, puppetry, topography etc. He was also aware of the fact that in order to preserve the cultural heritage and artistic creativity, it must be spread over the national territory. In this thesis, we geta n insight of Ribnica, its valuable legacy and attitude towards art, together with the knowledge of Janko Trošt and his art pieces. This versatile creator was also the founder of two Slovenian museums – a museus in Idrija and one in Ribnica, where in both of them, many of his paintings, drawings and other work is preserved. Trošt's head focus was the depict of vedutas, landscapes, motives of Ribnica and Idrija, different genres and caricatures. Ribnica museum has not developed any didactic material which would present his collection and therefore in my thesis, I will try to expose Trošt's depiction of Ribnica castle, present the history and characteristics of this highly important architectural piece in the center of Ribnica and make supporting didactic material. For this I have used two methods, which speak in favour of different didactic approaches designed to deal with art pieces in a more profound way. These two methods are Ways In and experimental learning, also known as »learning from experience«. Suggested activities for getting to know, understand and feel Ribnica castle are supplemented with sets of questions that are presented on worksheets and could be useful for anyone who would like more in-depth understanding and discovering of Trošt's art and Ribnica castle and also for those who would like to connect the cultural heritage of Ribnica with children.
