The theoretical part of the thesis presents child development from the age of three to four. It describes both physical and motor development and the development of sensations, perception and speech. It also looks into child's play and creativity and provides insight into the history of paper, more precisely papyrus and parchment and Chinese and medieval techniques of producing paper. The thesis also touches on the development of paper-making on the Slovene territory. The practical part of the thesis involves a questionnaire in which we tried to determine how much children knew about paper before performing the activity. Furthermore, it describes the activities. We created a handmade sheet of paper by applying two different techniques, turned it into three-dimensional shapes and coloured it. At the final stage, the children were once again asked the same questions to see whether their ideas about paper changed in the process.
