    Abstract

This dissertation shows how to encourage reuse of different types of shopping carrier bags in kindergarten. In the theoretical part I have introduced the concepts of creativity, divergent thinking and the meaning of reuse. I have outlined the problems concerning shopping bags and named the most common types, from which we made creative products. I outlined the motoric development in a child wherein I focused on eye-hand coordination, which is very important for a child's complete development. I also made a point of discussing work safety and technical and technological goals of the kindergarten curriculum. In the empirical part I defined the problem of the dissertation and listed the goals I wanted to achieve. I continued with an introduction of activities for which I was inspired from children's ideas – when naming what can be made from different types of bags. I presented a creative and innovative search for ways for children to reuse different types of shopping carrier bags. The ideas children had were definitely creative and versatile – which led to making medusas in bottles, different dolls from paper bags, kites from paper and plastic bags and finally a fashion show with items made of bags. I noticed the children were skilful with the tools they were using and that they really enjoyed playing with all of the end products. On conclusion I deduced that children understand the problems concerning shopping bags and the meaning of reuse, which is important for their generation and the ones that will follow.
