    Abstract

I intend to present and analyse the roll of a modern father in education of children under school age and I also want to compare it with the father´s roll in the past. Moreover, I want to evaluate some different authors´ opinion written in the professional literature about the same topic. Russell (Rener and others, 2008: 41) writes about four different types of father: uninterested, traditional, good and intraditional father. T. Rener (at the same place) believes in two models existing in Slovenia. The first one as a traditional or complementary, those fathers who rarely take care for their children and do the housework, and the second one as a supportive model that includes fathers with some more participation but there is still a roll unequally shared between the partners; usually a mother has got a primary roll. Skynner and Cleese (after Krek, 2008) write about the most important father´s roll to help children how to separate from their mothers by drawing them back. The researches have shown ( Father´s Roll in Family,...2011) that the father´s roll can be very important and has got a great influence in child´s life. A child hurts by the absence of the father. I am interested in different father´s rolls in practice, so I am looking for some answers to the following questions: What does effect the modern father´s roll? What types of fatherhood are written about in the professional literature? What are the differences between the past and the present father´s roll? Is the father still » a head« of the family? How is his authority shown in these days? Is it possible to have »a new fatherhood«? I also want to find the ideals and the contradictory of this phenomenon. I´d like to analyse the educators´ asspects about the different rolls of modern father and try to find the answer how fathers being overworked and absent in upbringing (Kroflič, 1997) can affect their labour. Finally, the theoretical and empirical research results can help me to expose all the new rolls of the modern father in the child´s upbringing. Therefore I can form some directives for nursery nurses and their assistants at their work according to nursery - parents relation (a nursery nurse – a father relation).
