    Abstract

    This diploma paper defines theoretical basis for acquiring qualitative knowledge (of Physics), its meaning for an individual and society and means which make its achievement possible. In the frame of formal learning qualitative and permanent knowlegde can be achieved by problem-based and cognitive-constructivist teaching styles, while all these styles are connected with the use of teaching mediums and learning methods. Educational shows and documentary programmes are means of informal education which present physical themes in non-technical and interesting way and thus bring it closer to individuals, stimulating their interest in them. Next in this diploma paper I presented the impact of functions, didactic features and media on learning and teaching. I brought to attention some successful examples of using videos for educational purposes and results of relevant researches, which prove positive impact of using videos. Based on acquired data on several educational shows and documentary programmes an effective plan of educational show is presented. I also presented some Slovene and foreign educational and documentary programmes, and mentioned some web-based videos, which are very popular and contain interesting and relevant physical content. The empirical part of this diploma paper describes in detail a research, carried out among primary school pupils. Research showed, that pupils rarely watch educational and documentary programmes with physical contents. Interest in science and Physics among pupils is the same as in other school subjects. Pupils, who watch these programmes in majority estimate that they gained new knowledge and new aspect in particular Physics theme. On average pupils show medium interest in watching educational and documentary programmes. Besides, pupils mean that they on average understand programmes at medium rate and that they influence on their improvement of Physics knowledge, despite the fact, that pupils watch them rarely.
