In the diploma degree I focused on how to raise awareness of responsibility. At the beginning I researched into what responsibility is and what is it connected to. In the second part I focused on education in terms of its purpose, past and present education systems, moral development of children and youth and the importance of responsibility. In addition, I have gathered some specific proposals on how to raise responsibility. In the third part of my degree I presented the Slovenian catholic Girl Guides and Boy Scouts Association (ZSKSS); its structure, Scouts methods, the beginning and educational work with children and adolescent. Since I have been interested on how the Scouts teach the responsibility behaviour, I have interviewed ten Scouts of different ages (from 16 to 37 years old) and have included their answers in the empirical part of my degree. Furthermore, I made a research on what does the “entrusted responsibility” mean to them, which responsibilities are important for Scouts, what decision-making process is required for raising responsible behaviour, and what role plays the Scout leader at raising responsibility. Moreover, I was interested in what Scouts consider to be the difference in raising responsibility between the young people who are part of the Scout organisation and those who are not, and wheter they think the Scouts are more likely to assume different roles and functions in their vicinity than their peers. From the knowledge acquired in theoretical part, and from the results gained in the qualitative research, I have defined guidelines for the education of responsibility in the ZSKSS and offered some practice, which would be useful in the social teaching.
