    Abstract

    This diploma thesis deals with the stereotypes and prejudices faced by blind and visually impaired children and their parents. It touches challenges, with wich the parents have to deal, when they raise their blind or visually impaired child and the reaction of the surroundings to the childs blindness, and what to pay attention too, while raising the child. It also captures the part of the teacher for the blind and visually impaired children in the area of awareness-raising of the parents and close relatives about blindness and visual impairment and he offers his professional and emotional support to the parents, when they need it the most. They can do it over individual conversations with him, or over guided workshops, which are also the main theme of my thesis. The workshops are gadget that parents closer to blindness and visual impairment. They are confronted with issues that touch the field of blindness and visual impairment, share experiences and obtain the information they need.
