In my thesis I described childhood sexual abuse and its consequences, with the main focus on later relationships between partners and their sexuality. I have also written about the possible ways of coping with the abuse and the strategies, that a partner can use to help the survivor of sexual abuse. Also, I have tried to present the partner’s way of coping with the abuse. In the empirical part I used qualitative analysis of the semi-structured interview, and attempted to present the whole picture of how a person was experiencing sexual abuse in the past and what is her attitude towards it today. I was researching, how the survivor experiences the effects of the abuse, especially in the area of partner relationships and sexuality. I was also interested in how the partner helped her with coping. The results show that the survivor of the abuse had significant consequences in later life, especially in partnership and sexuality. The results also show that the survivor can overcome the effects of the abuse, but the road to recovery is not short or easy. With help and support of those, who are close to the survivor, it is possible, that she overcomes the abuse and achieves a point in life, where abuse does not affect her life anymore.
